Another one rides the bus

In honor of Earth Day, I thought I'd try to reduce my carbon footprint for the day by riding the bus to and from work. I've only ever taken advantage of public transportation on vacation (well, except for riding the free bus from the parking garage to jury duty, but that doesn't really count) and have been really impressed so far, with the sytsems in Paris, London and Chicago. Of course on all of these trips I've had others with me to help keep me focused on getting on the right bus or train and off at the right stop, etc., so I'm a bit intimidated by this little adventure I've cooked up. I've got my itinieraries and have to make no less than 3 bus changes and spend a little over 2 hours to get from my house near the Airport to UCF. I'm looking forward to having some time to read and saving gas. Thanks to a helpful 'How To' on the lynx website, I now know to have exact change and to exit through the rear doors and I'm just hoping someone else will be getting off at the same stops I am, so I don't have to pull the wire to signal the driver, but I'm prepared and will do it if need be. So, we'll see how this goes. Have a Happy Earth Day tomorrow!

OMG! That's the best idea, Jenny!! What a great way to ring in earth day!! I was trying to think of what to do and this did not even cross my mind (how sad!)! Well, you've done your research, you've got your exact change - I think you are ready! Good luck and I can't wait to hear all the details over gurl's nite! Yeah - simply brilliant! :)

PS: I'm now eye-ing the bus schedule for my neck of the woods...maybe...just maybe, I might copy you (if I can work up the courage - makes me nervous for some reason!)! ;)

PPS: Oh and love new larger, more spacious monorail kitty! ;)

Nice idea; just out of curiosity, I looked it up, and Ocala actually does have a transit system of it's own. Unfortunately, it covers pretty much all of the Ocala area, with the exception of where we do most of our business. ;) I think we're a bit too on the outskirts to take advantage of it.
